Located just north of Atlanta in fast-growing Cherokee County, the City of Holly Springs is a seven square mile oasis of friendly neighborhoods, thriving businesses, and wonderful early-twentieth century homes and commercial buildings. The City was incorporated in 1906, and quickly began building up around a busy train depot established by the L&N Railroad (now the Georgia Northeastern Railway). That depot, now the Holly Springs Community Center, was painstakingly restored by the City in the late 1990's and is a source of immense civic pride for our 4,500 local residents.

Holly Springs is easy to get to via two interchanges with Interstate 575, which connects about 10 miles to the south with a stretch of Interstate 75 that is one of the busiest in the nation. The City has an abundant supply of land available for new office and retail development as well as a number of sites already prepared for such development. Details on local economic development opportunities are available through the Holly Springs Business & Professional Association and the City’s Planning Department.

You are here: Parks & Recreation

Holly
Springs provides recreational and leisure opportunities for the whole family. The city offers such facilities as playgrounds, walking trails, ball field, and picnic pavilion.

Recently-opened Barrett Park is Holly Springs' first major recreational area. It features a playground and a walking trail, which meanders through a scenic natural area. The 13-acre park is conveniently located on Park Lane, just off Hickory Road across from Holly Springs Elementary School. The city is currently working on plans for additional facilities in the park.

The city's JC Mullins Field is a regulation sized baseball field, which is home to several area teams. Surrounding the ball field is a walking trail, "tot lot," and picnic pavilion. JC Mullins Field is located off Holly Springs Parkway behind the Crossroads School.

The Holly Springs Community Center, commonly referred to as "the Depot," is a meticulously restored turn-of-the-century train station, which can accommodate up to 75 people for a meeting or event. The Community Center, located in downtown Holly Springs on Hickory Road adjacent to the railroad tracks, has rooms for both large and small gatherings.

The Community Center is a popular place, especially on weekends. Weddings, receptions, birthday parties, civic club meetings, and political rallies are just a few of the types of events regularly held at the facility. We strongly recommend checking on dates and times the Center is available well in advance of your function.
