 Opening its doors in July 2004, with a Christening presentation of, "A Reach of Song", presented through the joint efforts of The City of Cumming and The Appalachian Educational and Historical Society, Inc., the Cumming Playhouse has continued to gain momentum over the course of the past 18 months. Complemented with one of the finest restaurants in Forsyth and surrounding areas, Tam's Backstage Food & Spirits, located on the lower level, provides unique dining experiences to go hand in hand with exciting Main Stage Performances. This restoration project of the 1923 Cumming School was funded by Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax monies provided within the Historic Preservation category along with donations from the community to help furnish the beautiful historic building. In 2000, the school was placed on the National Register of historic Places through the efforts of The Historical Society of Forsyth County, under the leadership of Mrs. Annette Bramblett. Local theatre companies will be invited to perform here as well as Road Shows who wish to make Cumming one of their stops. Watch for entertainment to include concerts, soliloquies, comedies, musicals, historic reenactments and community performances. Other features in the building include: Schools Historic Library highlighting the schools history via memorabilia of students from the 20's -50's.

Where is the Cumming Playhouse Located? Directions Directions from Ga. 400 South (Atlanta, Roswell, Alpharetta) Georgia 400 to Bald Ridge Marina Road Exit. Exit to your left across the Ga. 400 Bridge and head down the hill and around a curve toward town. Turn right at the town clock/electronic marquee onto Pilgrim Mill Road. Go I block to School Street on your left. Cumming Playhouse is located at the intersection of Pilgrim Mill and School Streets and is housed within the Historic Cumming Public School at 101 School Street. Additional signage will guide you. Handicapped Parking and Access Ramp on left side of building. Directions from Highway 9 South (Atlanta, Roswell, Alpharetta) Travel North on Highway 9 into the town. Travel past Dairy Queen (on right). Get in far right lane and continue through the upcoming intersection. The road name at his point becomes Pilgrim Mill Road. Continue one block to School Street. Cumming Playhouse is located at the intersection of Pilgrim Mill and School Streets and is housed within the Historic Cumming Public School at 101 School Street. Additional signage will guide you. Exit to your right onto Bald Ridge Marina Road and head down the hill and around a curve toward town. Turn right at the town clock/electronic marquee onto Pilgrim Mill Road. Go I block to School Street on your left. School Street is just before the town square on the left and right across from the entrance to City Hall. Turn onto School Street and go about one block. The Cumming Playhouse is located within the Cumming Historic School at 101 School Street on the left. Handicapped Parking and Access Ramp on left side of building. Directions from Canton and points West of Cumming Georgia 20 headed east toward Cumming. Continue on 20 to Highway 9. (Dairy Queen will be on your left as you turn left onto Highway 9). Get in far right lane and continue through the upcoming intersection. The road name at the intersection becomes Pilgrim Mill Road. You will see town clock and electronic marques on your left as you pass through the intersection. Continue one block to School Street.
